A-LF: Where does your passion for vintage clothing come from?
VS: i went to charity shops from an early age with my dad. he hated spending a lot of money on clothes and would always shun brands.
A-LF: what makes it so addictive?
VS: i get such a thrill when i find a bargain. i love the clothes because they are original and often so beautifully made. i hate to see someone wearing the same thing as me, although i bumped into 3 girls wearing the same vintage sequin butterfly top at the secret garden party this year. it as a good conversation starter though.
A-LF: when did you start customising clothes?
VS: i added felt flowers to my (second-hand) Lee flared jeans as well as customising my Doc Marten's when I was at college. I hadn't done anything since, until recently i decided to start "Victoria's Vintage Remade". The clothes i customise aren't necessarily vintage, but they are all second-hand. i give them a new lease of life by adding something simple such as new buttons or a sequin motif. i got such a thrill when i sold my first piece.
A-LF: what are your plans for 2009 fashion?
VS: Lace. It's an easy way to update a garment, whether it's a simple trim or a fancy collar. I also want to use vintage scarves; the patterns are so beautiful.
